What is a milk cooler and why is it needed?

For optimal cooling
Many coffee specialities require frothed milk to be prepared. The temperature of the milk plays a crucial role in this process. Optimal and consistent cooling to 4–6 degrees not only makes it easier to produce delicious milk foam, but also ensures high standards of hygiene. Keeping it cool at all times prevents bacteria from multiplying. This is particularly important when it comes to fresh milk or milk substitutes.

The milk cooler and the coffee machine are connected by a hose, through which the milk is supplied. Ease of use and hygiene

The milk coolers are designed for ease of use. Depending on the model, they feature indicator lights, temperature displays and a thermostat for temperature control. With the 5-litre and 8-litre models, the milk is simply poured into the appropriate milk container. With the 1-litre model, the milk carton is placed directly into the cooler.
It is worth noting that milk or milk alternatives should always be poured in whilst chilled, as this reduces the amount of energy required to cool the drink down. This is particularly important with the 1-litre version.

Here, the fans maintain the temperature rather than cooling it down. To connect to a fully automatic coffee machine, a milk hose is fed through a suitable opening in the machine.
The innovative design of the milk cooler ensures impeccable hygiene standards. Cleaning the milk container, milk hose and the unit’s surfaces is quick and easy. The individual components of the cooler are made from high-quality materials and are therefore dishwasher-safe.

Combine fully automatic coffee machines with milk coolers

The various models of the milk cooler have been designed to be compatible with all our fully automatic coffee machines. For our BARISTA Compact and multiBona 3 models, an external milk frother must also be fitted to froth the milk. This device draws the milk from the cooler, froths it and then feeds it into the fully automatic coffee machine – where the milk foam is processed fully automatically for the preparation of various coffee specialities. Our BARISTA Ultima can be connected directly to the milk cooler. The table below shows you all the possible combinations.
